CELEBRATE RECOVERY!!!

Large  group starts  at 7 pm (age requirement 15 years and older)

Small groups start at  8 pm (age requirements 18 years and older)

It’s Testimony Night
We invite you to come hear someone share about their struggle with anger, financial loss,
food issues and resentment.

“I said, ‘I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again     toward your holy temple.’  The engulfing waters threatened me,     the deep surrounded me;     seaweed was wrapped around my head.” (Jonah 2: 4 – 5)

Principle 8. Yield myself to God to be used to  bring his Good News to others, both by my example and by  my words.

“Blessed are those who are persecuted because they  do what God requires” (Matthew 5:10)

Step  12.  Having had a spiritual experience as the  result of these steps, we try to carry this message to others and to practice  these principles in all our affairs.

“Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who  are spiritual should restore him gently.  But watch  yourself or you also may be  tempted.”  (Galatians 6:1)

powerless

Large  group starts  at 7 pm (age requirement 15 years and older)

Small groups start at  8 pm (age requirements 18 years and older)

When we accept the first recovery principle and take that first step out of our denial and into reality, we see there are very few things that we really have control over.  Once we admit that by ourselves we are powerless we can stop living with the following “serenity robbers,” spelled out in the acrostic below:
Pride
Only ifs
Worry
Escape
Resentments
Loneliness
Emptiness
Selfishness
Separation
Principle 1:
Realize I’m not God. I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and that my life is unmanageable.

“Blessed are those who know they are spiritually poor.”

Step 1:
We admitted we were powerless over our addictions and compulsive behaviors, that our lives had become unmanageable
.

“I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.” (Romans 7:18)

Leader’s Focus Question:

How has pride stopped you from asking for and getting help to overcome your  hurts, habits and hang-ups?
