Rafter J Cowboy Church
Aviation Ministry - Spring 2007
by Jim Phillips
The purpose of this trip was to provide dental and medical care for children who are residents of several orphanages around Tampico Mexico. Services were also provided for low income adults and parents. Approximately 240 individuals were treated. Services ranged from cleaning and fillings to extractions. The medical doctor saw a variety of cases.
Four airplanes were involved in transporting the dental and medical workers and their supplies and equipment. The weather was for the most part excellent for the flight with the usual rain around the Corpus area. The airplanes performed flawlessly as did the professional pilots. The flights were uneventful.
Jack Cox (missionary in Tampico) did an excellent job with organizing facilities and local volunteers. Jack also was an excellent host to the group and provided the support for the workers during the long work days.
The dental workers were: Dr. James Berry, Dr. Stephen Berry, Dr. Robert Philips, Jane Novak, Teresa Sevier and Trish Perry.
The trip was a couple of dental assistants shortat the last moment and several of the pilots were recruited in the dental assistant role.
The medical doctor was Dr. James Davidson...he and his son John (an airline pilot)flew their own plane down loaded with equipment and supplies.
The Air Transport Arm for Christ and Wings of Witness volunteer pilots were: Paul Tremback, Glen Murphy,Mike Gibson and Jim Phillips (Rafter J Cowboy Church).
In all it was a very successful trip in service to the Lord and his children.
Sincerely,
Jim Phillips
